I feel that I have learned a vast amount of knowledge and skills from when i first started my preliminary to the end of the product. The main skills I have learned are just using basic and advanced tolls in photoshop more effectively and to my advantage. One of the main tools i have used is the magneto lasso tool as this was used to get the pictures from the camera onto our final magazines. When I first did this I did it quickly and made a lot of mistakes such as cropping pieces of clothing out so it did not look correct. When I took the pictures for my preliminary magazine I used the whiteboard in a class room and when I took the pictures I had cut out parts of his body from he shot. I learned from my mistakes and decided to book a AVS room so that I could use the correct equipment such as a background and lighting so my photos look more professional and to a higher standard. By using a custom background a lighting I could adjust the photos to how I wanted them and decided not to have any shadow.
The layout for my preliminary was very unorganised and scattered. The font was also the basic font and it looked to bland and boring where as in my final magazine I decided to add a new font and made the layout and organisation much better so it was easier to read compared to my preliminary. For my preliminary I did barely any research for the design so it did not look very professional where as with my final magazine I did a lot of research into many different areas to try and get the right look for my magazine. With the preliminary work I did not add the little features such as page numbers and a bar code, I took this into consideration when creating my final magazine and I created and styled my own page numbers and bar code into my magazine to make it look more original and unique.
The colour scheme for my prelim was not planned very well and some of the colours clashed and looking back I thought that they were too loud and bright, I took this into consideration through out my magazine and decided to keep it to a simple yet effective colour scheme of just black and white. I felt that keeping it to a simple colour schemed looked much better and I learned new skills such as changing the opacity and brightness of the colour so it made my magazine look much better compared to my preliminary. I only used very basic text that was available for me already on Photoshop. With my magazine I researched fonts from other magazines and used a font that I felt matched the genre and style of my magazine very well.
